Toddlers creatively work off some energy while experiencing the power of music and rhythm through simple instruments– drums, maracas, etc.
Fairy Garden Workshop with Stacey Green- June 8 10am-12pm Ages 5+ Limited to 10 spaces $40 member
Students will make clay toadstools, paint fairy houses and decorate their garden with found fairy treasures—some provided, some found outside. By the end of the class students will bring home their very own fairy garden.
Youth Drama with Melanie Hartnett June 10-14th 2pm-4pm Ages 7-11 $75 member
Young stars can get in touch with their dramatic side through interactive drama games and the production of a small “family & friends performance on the final day.
Cactus Rock Garden Workshop with Stacey Green June 22 10am-12pm Ages 5+ Limited to 12 spaces $25 per member
Students will paint rocks to resemble cacti and plant them in a pot to make their own cactus garden that needs no water.
Card Making Workshop with Stacey Green June 13th 6:30pm Ages 12+ Limited to 10 spaces $30 per member
Students will make 4-5 cards using stamping techniques. No experience needed.

Students will be introduced to the wonderful world of graffiti spray painting in this fun 2 day class.
Storytelling Oral History Workshop with Jessica Colie McClellan June 24th-28th 10am-12pm Ages: McClellanville residents 12+ $75 member Limited to 16 spaces
Is it possible to create a vivid picture for an audience with only your voice and body? Preteens and up will learn about the different ways to tell a story in this week long class with a half hour loved one’s performance on the last day. Taught by Jessica Colie McClellan former McClellanville resident (and resident at heart) of McClellanville who holds an MFA in Theatre from Rutgers University and now teaches drama at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Pianist Megan Dodson offers weekly 30-minute private piano lessons for ages 5 and up in our studio, no experience necessary! Please call the Arts Center to register at 843-887-3157.

Saturday, January 26th from 10am-4pm – Advanced Techniques in Encaustic Painting: Learn to add molten beeswax and inks to create beautiful layers of luminosity to your art. Sunday, January 27th from 10am-4pm – Altered Papers/Encaustic Collage: This is a 2-part workshop. Morning session is dedicated to creating the altered paper and the afternoon session will be utilizing the paper into a collage with pigmented wax. Class fee is $120 for members, $135 non-members. Closing Reception and Costume Party for “Art Roots: An Homage to Family Art,” will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in our Gallery. Art originals and prints will be for sale! Curated by Blythe Brown and Noah Kipar as a tribute to the people who inspired them to create.
Earring Making Workshop: Taught by Jenny Owen. Students will use recycled water bottles to create their own earrings using heat and transparent paints. Ages 15 and up. Calligraphy Class: Taught by Natasha Lawrence. Students will learn the art of using elegant wide and narrow strokes to address envelopes, improve penmanship, or create unique works of art with words. Ages 15 and up, no experience required. Left handers are welcome! All materials are included in the class fee. 2018 members $45 and $55 non-members. Opening Reception for Low-Country Visions: Tommy Beaver is an award-winning artist, working in a loose impressionist style with broad brush strokes and texture, using oils on canvas, he captures emotions, energy and mood of scenes. Opening reception free and open to the public on Saturday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m.

Join Blythe Brown on the first Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. and the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for this fun and relaxed painting class, appropriate for both beginners and experienced painters alike. After School Art: Blythe Brown will also offer art lessons in our studio on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30. Yoga: Yoga classes are offered twice a week on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:15 p.m. and on Monday mornings from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Join instructor Blythe Brown for classes appropriate for all levels that include slow warming up poses, breathing exercises and basic yoga sequences in a flow style. Mats and props are provided, but feel free to bring your own. Drop-in’s are welcome! Class fee for members is $12 and $15 for non-members.
Karate: Shinan Daniel Strickland is a 5th degree Black Belt instructor in the art of Sogo-Goshino (self-defense). He is now offering lessons on Mondays and Thursdays for ages 5 and up from 5-6 p.m., and for adults ages 16 and up from 6:15-7:30 p.m. No experience necessary. Art and Science Exploration: Sea Turtles! Wrap Around Ring
Friday, Jan. 26, 6:00-9:00 p.m. Deb Guess is coming back for another weekend of jewelry metalsmithing classes! Students will start with copper or brass sheet and transform it into beautiful rings. This class will focus on learning to cut, size, form, and ﬁnish both soldered and adjustable rings. Students will use butane torches to anneal and solder. All tools and supplies will be provided, but suggest that students bring a work apron, reading glasses if needed for extra magniﬁcation, and a small notebook for notes. Wild About Wire
Sat., Jan. 27, 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Making beautiful chains, bracelets, earring ﬁndings, and clasps is the perfect way to show off the other creative jewelry components you create. This class will focus on teaching students ﬁve or six basic chain links, two varieties of clasps, and making earwires. Students should be able to complete at least one bracelet or chain and samples of all of the others. All tools and supplies will be provided, but recommend that students bring a work apron, reading glasses if needed for extra magniﬁcation , and a small notebook for class notes. Sun., Jan. 28, 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Using copper sheet as a base, students will learn to paint molten pewter across the surface and then stamp into it while still hot. The results look like ancient Byzantine or medieval jewelry recovered from archeological digs. Create pendants, charms, or earrings from the results. The class will focus on use of the torch, design, cutting and ﬁnishing components. Students should be able to complete a pendant or a pair of earrings during the class, which is ideal for beginning or intermediate students. All supplies provided.
