This class will focus on using a butane micro-torch to create handcrafted jewelry, joining layers of metal by soldering, a fun and challenging technique used in Metal Smithing. Students will complete one or more jewelry components, and we will cover safety, materials, and tools needed to create a torching station at home. All tools and supplies are provided, but students should bring a work apron, reading glasses if needed, and a small notebook. No experience necessary, for ages 14 years and up. Class meets with Artist Deb Guess, on Sunday, April 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. Fee is $120 for 2017 members, $135 for non-members.
