If I Had a Hammer: Beginning Jewelry Metal Smithing

Artist Deb Guess will lead students to start with copper and brass sheets of metal, spools of wire, and learn to transform them into wearable pieces of art jewelry. This class will focus on creating a piece of jewelry from start to finish, with an emphasis on tools, safety, and setting up a jeweler’s bench. No experience necessary, ages 14 and up. Students will complete one or more pieces of jewelry during the class and learn to use a wide variety of Metal Smithing tools.

All tools and supplies are provided, but students should bring a work apron, reading glasses if needed, and a small notebook.

The class will meet on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., breaking for lunch from noon until one. Fee is $120 for 2017 members, $135 for non-members.

This class must meet a minimum of six students, and is limited to 12 students.
